Kesa gatame (Reverse scarf hold) is a side control hold variation commonly used Kodakan Judo. Many Judo and Aikido techniques (e.g. irimi nage and koshi nage) readily and naturally set up the application for this hold.
In addition to being an effective pin, Ushiro kesa gatame can be transitioned as the situation permits to either a choke or arm bar (see video below).
