Training notes: Jo nage kokyu nage

In the below video, Peter Brady Shihan (7th Dan Aikikai) provides instruction on one of the many versions of jo nage kokyu nage.  While Brady Sensei is not part of our school, the method of applying this technique is very similar (if not the same) as that practised in our dojo.

Jo nage techniques  form part of the assessment for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Dan grading tests in Aikido Yuishinkai. In the gradings techniques are performed at ryutai level (free flowing) and in a randori setting.  The nage must demonstrate at least 5-7 different techniques (depending on the level of dan grading being tested).
