Training Notes: Ryoerijime/Gyaku ryokatadori men nage

While having a long history in Aikido, men nage (head throw) techniques seem to have lost popularity in modern Aikido.  This in part may be attributed to the risk of injury to the uke if not trained sensibly and slowly.

In the below video  Crane Sensei provides detailed instruction on Gyaku ryokatadori men nage.  The attack form for this technique is a cross hand standing choke.  The technique is also sometimes referred to as Ryoerijime kokyu nage or Ryoerijime men nage .
