Kuzure kami shiho gatame

Kuzure kami shiho gatame (Broken upper four-quarter hold-down) is a “north- south” control hold of Kodakan Judo.  Many Judo and Aikido techniques (e.g. irimi nage and koshi nage) readily and naturally set up the application for this hold.

In addition to being an effective pin, Kuzure kami shiho gatame can be transitioned as the situation permits to either a choke or arm bar (see video below).
